Alexander Brady

I am a designer craftsman making fine furniture at my home workshop in Essex. I work mainly in solid wood and high quality veneers using European and American hardwoods.

I work alone. The only hands to touch your furniture on its journey from the timber stack to your home will be mine. I take great care to select only the finest quality materials from trusted sources. I use traditional and modern construction techniques and take whatever time is necessary to achieve perfection.

Discerning people demand the highest quality, and recognise that, in a world of mass production, individual design is at a premium. I create bespoke pieces to your personal requirements. When you invest in my furniture, you get a piece that will give you a lifetime of joy and pleasure, whether using it, touching it, or just being in the same room as it. Fashions come and go, but Fine Furniture designed with care and made with skill is enduring.

I value function, craftsmanship, and uncompromising quality. I try to emphasise the inherent beauty of the wood making sensitive use of interesting figure and grain patterns, also complementary and contrasting colouring. My objective is to bring together your ideas, desires and dreams, and turn them into reality.

I am aware of the environmental issues related to the use of wood products. My own garden contains many native hardwood trees including, oak, sycamore, walnut, elm, cherry, apple, and pear. I replace the wood I use, by purchasing trees for one of the new native woodland schemes. In 2004 I bought 125 trees for the Wild Wood at the RHS Garden, Hyde Hall, Essex.

Commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture is not for everyone - however, sometimes the only way to find out if it is for you is to talk it over. I welcome all enquiries about potential projects, and am always happy to discuss the commissioning process, without obligation.

If you feel I may be able to create a piece of furniture for you, please call me.
