Richard Fairbrother
Richard Fairbrother specialises in the creation of unique fine modern furniture using traditional cabinet making skills.
Born in in 1974, Richard studied engineering at the University of the West of England. Following a lifelong love of working with wood he completed an intensive year’s training with master cabinet-maker Michael Scott in February 2008.
Now working from his newly founded workshop in the beautiful hills he makes pieces of furniture to commission and for exhibitions and galleries. Richard has a keen interest in exploring the structures and designs possible in making furniture and the immense scope of visual impact that can be achieved using different varieties of wood. As well as working with solid woods, he is an expert in lamination and veneering which enable him to create fresh and exciting designs that are a pleasure to own.
Every piece of Richard’s furniture, be it a dining table or the smallest keep-sake box is painstakingly hand-crafted from original concept to the finished polish. Wood is carefully chosen for its unique properties and suitability and every join is carefully cut by hand giving a beautiful finish that is synonymous with the highest quality furniture.
Richard is delighted to undertake commissions and welcomes clients to come and view his work and discuss their requirements.
