After a first degree in Sculpture, a lifelong love of making things with wood convinced Simon to enrol at Hooke Park College, part of John Makepeace’s Parnham Trust, where he learnt many of the design and making skills he uses today, as well as the strong interest in forestry and native timber.

Since 1998 when Simon established Simon Thomas Pirie Furniture in he, along with a small team of makers have produced a huge variety of projects; from dining sets, to a ceremonial mace, to complete kitchens and interiors. The business remains small and exclusive by choice, purposely avoiding mass production and repetition.

Recently Simon and the team moved into new larger workshops and continue to take on new challenges, like designing bridges for example, but we do still love designing and making pieces for individuals with high expectations and an eye for timeless furniture.
